The Oxford Test of English Advanced is an internationally recognised, standardised language examination for learners who want to prove their advanced English language skills for academic or professional purposes. It was developed by Oxford University Press and certified by the University of Oxford. A growing number of universities, educational institutions and organisations around the world recognise the Oxford Test of English Advanced as proof of language proficiency.

As a licensed test centre, Sprachenakademie Aachen regularly offers the Oxford Test of English Advanced. You can use our online form to register: please mind the application deadline when doing so. The examination fee for a complete examination amounts to €150 (including the registration fee of €30). It is also possible to retake individual parts of the exam for a fee of €35 plus the registration fee of €30.

Examination outline and evaluation

The test is computer-based and and is conducted on the premises of Sprachenakademie Aachen. It comprises the 4 skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. All parts of the exam take place on the same day. Regarding the repetition of the exam: The entire test or individual parts of the test can be taken a maximum of two times within a period of 8 weeks and a maximum of four times within a period of 12 months.

A computer-adaptive exam, the Oxford Test of English contains tasks on several degrees of difficulty. In order to avoid underchallenge, the tasks will automatically be adapted to the skills of the examinee, based on his or her answers, during the examination parts listening and reading.

The results for the Listening and Reading modules are evaluated automatically: you can view them exclusively in the corresponding online portal from the day of the exam. The other results will also be made available there within 5 days. On the certificate that you can download, all four language skills tested are listed individually and the level achieved is indicated.
