Our Didactics Seminar “Teaching German as a Foreign Language”, with a focus on adult education, is specially designed for international students of German Studies as well as fully trained teachers looking to expand their skills at teaching German as a Foreign Language. We will help you broaden your teaching knowledge by looking at productive and tried-and-tested approaches to adult learning, working through example teaching units, and discussing textbooks for specific audiences, authentic multimedia teaching materials, and exam formats. Discussion and interview sessions will allow you to update your German skills, and you will also get lots of ideas for varied and practical German lessons. At the same time, the experiences and perspectives of colleagues working across the world will enrich your own skills base. On top of this, you will have the opportunity to participate in a supervised observation programme during the course.
Participants should have existing German language skills at level C1 ABOUT PROFICIENCY LEVELS:

The course take place Mondays – Fridays in the afternoons and comprise 5 teaching units Teaching units:
One teaching unit = 45 minutes per day. After class, you will also have plenty of fascinating opportunities to get acquainted with German culture in a unique European context: the course fee includes a diverse cultural and recreational programme which takes students as far as the German borders and beyond! (Participants in our Didactics Seminar “Teaching German as a Foreign Language” may be offered slightly different options to the general cultural and recreational programme.)
Additional information for German teachers working in Germany:
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) recognises the workshop for German teachers as „anderes DaF/DaZ-Zertifikat“ (other DaF/DaZ certificate) according to the matrix of acceptance criteria for teachers of integration courses. Teaching integration courses requires a specific admission issued by the BAMF. Depending on your additional qualifications, the certificate you will be awarded upon successful participation in our workshop for German teachers can suffice to be issued the BAMF teaching admission.
