Summer Courses of FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences
The course “Technical German for Medical Professions” is aimed at students of medicine and related subjects as well as fully qualified doctors with an advanced language level. You will expand your professional German language skills in international groups and gain an insight into German culture at the same time.
Course type & features
- Four-week intensive technical German course
- Part of the “Aachener Sprachsommer”
- Daily face-to-face lectures in Aachen
- Instruction by experienced, professional lecturers
- Final certificate and 5 ECTSECTS

Learning goals
- Expand written and oral German language skills
- Improve technical language competencies
- Communicate fluently in study and work contexts
With regard to the use of language in everyday working life, the following topics will be covered: the German healthcare system, communication with patients and relatives, anatomy, physiology, symptoms, medication, cooperation in an interdisciplinary context, documentation standards and reporting, job application training and examination formats for medical professionals.
Course structure and requirements for participation
- Lectures from Monday through Friday
- 25 teaching unitsTeaching units:
One teaching unit = 45 minutes per week, 100 teaching units in total - Field trips to medical facilities
